Hybrid classes

Hybrid courses are on-campus classes with a significant portion of the material offered electronically. Hybrid courses meet approximately half of the time in a traditional face-to-face classroom environment with the remainder of the course presentation, interaction, activities and exercises delivered through various electronic means (online, WebCT/Vista, and/or video formats). You should expect to spend at least as much time engaged in course activities as in a traditional class even though you will not be in the classroom for all of it.

Requirements

  1. You must be able to attend class during the scheduled class times.

  2. If your class uses WebCT/Vista, you will need a WebCT/Vista account. The WebCT/Vista login ID and password will be assigned to you when you register for a class that requires it.

    • To find out your login ID, visit the WebCT/Vista homepage and follow the instructions for "New Users. Login IDs and passwords are case sensitive.
    • Your initial password is your birth date. Be sure to enter all four digits of your birth year.
    • If you registered before classes started, your WebCT/Vista account will be active on the first day of classes. If you registered late, allow approximately 3 days to set up your account.
    • You use WebCT/Vista through your web browser. An online tutorial is available on the WebCT/Vista website.
  3. If your course uses tape-purchase you must have:

    • A way to pay for the videotapes / DVDs you buy from our off-campus vendor. You can purchase tapes/DVDs online or by phone. If you have a Cougar One Card debit account with sufficient funds, you can use it to pay for tapes/DVDs from the vendor.
    • A reliable delivery address where you can receive your shipment of tapes after you order them. (NOTE: DVD players made before 2000 may be incompatible with DVDs sold by the vendor.)
    • Ability to view VHS videotapes / DVDs each week to keep pace with the course syllabus or schedule.
