Online classes
For online classes you access class through the internet. Most online classes use a web-based class management tool called Vista. (Vista is an upgraded version of WebCT, which will no longer be used at UH after Fall 2005). In a few cases, the instructor instead chooses to use a stand-alone website to teach an online class.
Assignment schedules are determined by the instructor for each class. The instructor may also require you to come to the main campus occasionally for exams or class meetings.
The class schedule lists the location for online classes as "ONLINE-ON" or "ONLINE-OFF."
Requirements
- All students in online classes must have their current contact information and email address on file with the D.E. Student Services Office. (Student services will email you urgent information about your class whenever needed.)
- If your class uses Vista, you will need a Vista account. The Vista login ID and password will be assigned to you when you register for a class that requires it.
- To find out your login ID, visit the WebCT/Vista homepage and follow the instructions for "New Users." Login IDs and passwords are case sensitive.
- Your initial password is your birth date. Be sure to enter all four digits of your birth year.
- If you registered before classes started, your Vista account will be active on the first day of classes. If you registered late, allow approximately 3 days to set up your account.
- You use Vista through your web browser. Online tutorials for both tools is available on the WebCT/Vista website.
