Health (B.S.)
Note: This degree cannot be completed exclusively through distance education. Students will be required to take some traditional classes on campus. See below for more details.
The Bachelor of Science in Health is designed for students wishing to prepare for or continue in careers in health information and promotion, or in various other health-related fields.
The health degree is offered through the University's Discover U program in the Texas Medical Center.
The degree prepares students for graduate programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy or public health, and students who have already completed an associate’s degree in an allied health field may find this program complements their previous training.
The program is designed to meet the coursework requirements for eligibility to become a Certified Health Education Specialist.
Distance education class formats
Distance education offers upper-division courses toward this degree through face-to-face classes at:
- Discover U, located in the John B. Coleman, M.D. College College for Health Sciences (in the Texas Medical Center)
Degree planning
To get started with a degree in Health using classes at Discover U, you will need to meet with the Discover U advisor and declare Health as your major. You should write a degree plan, or a list of courses you plan to take to fulfill the major requirements.
